In this post, I will show you how to organize your letter tiles.
For years I struggled with organizing my letter tiles and magnets for easy use when planning small groups. As well as making it easy for students to use in literacy centers. I have seen the “teacher toolbox” for years and even had my own version but then I ran across one on Amazon with 26 drawers. Perfect for letter tiles!
I use letter tiles daily so I felt creating something just for them was justified. So I created some rainbow labels in PowerPoint which was probably the most difficult part of the whole process.
Then printed them off.
I decided to make the vowels the large drawers including Y. I figured that way I could include vowel teams.
Then I just had to cut them all out. Another somewhat tedious task but not too bad while binging FRIENDS.
Then all that was left was to tape them onto the drawers. It was super simple. I will probably have to find a stronger tape at some point but for now the tape I used works.
I can’t wait to use it in my classroom.
Would you like to make your own?
I’m happy to share the labels!
My tip is to trim very close to the color part for the best fit.
